Blackjack playing takes place on Blackjack tables in the casino.  The game is played with casino chips which the player must buy before he can play. When the player sits down at the table, he has to buy chips like in games like Roulette and Poker and other casino games.  He does this by putting the money down on the table and waits for the dealer to make change.  He should not interrupt the dealer.  The dealer cannot take the money from the player’s hand and he cannot make change. So don’t put down a large bill expecting to receive change. Blackjack Chips have a different color for each denomination. Usually, but not always $1 or ₤1 chips are house colors or white, ₤2.4 are blue, $5 or ₤5 are red, $25 or ₤25 are green and $100 or ₤100 are black. These are the usual denominations. 

There may be others available. If you are unsure about the denominations, ask the dealer.  Some casinos will allow the players to bet with cash but, if the player wins, he will be paid in chips.  When you buy chips, buy enough at one time. If you are playing at a low stakes table, $60 to $100 should suffice. A higher stakes table will require more.  You don’t want to be buying chips every hand. When you finish playing and are ready to leave the dealer may exchange small denomination chips for larger denomination chips. The chips can be used elsewhere in the casino.  If you want to cash out your chips, you must go to the cashier’s cage. This chips are not needed in the case of playing Blackjack online
